Victoire slips into top three - three remain at sea in Audi Sydney Offshore Newcastle Yacht Race

With only three yachts left at sea in the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia organised race, Geoff Ross’ RP 55 Yendys is the provisional winner, from Victoire, which had the bonus of Sean Kirkjian in the afterguard, bumping Bob Steel’s TP52 Quest down to third overall. All three are from the host club. |

Yendys provisional winner – Quest likely to win Blue Water Pointscore

Geoff Ross’s Yendys (NSW) is the provisional overall race winner under IRC while Bob Steel’s Quest (NSW) is second overall and provisionally positioned to win the Blue Water Pointscore (BWPS). Only Ed Psaltis/Bob Thomas’ AFR Midnight Rambler can spoil the party, but needs to finish the race by 10.29pm this evening to steal the crown in the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia’s prestigious series. |

Under the guidance of Mark Richards, Bob Oatley’s 100ft Reichel/Pugh designed Wild Oats XI, has taken line honours in the Audi Sydney Offshore Newcastle Yacht Race 2010, crossing the finish line in the Hunter River just after midday at 12.15.30 today, in the time of 1 day 15 minutes and 30 seconds. |

Wild Oats XI behind record pace while others battle for handicap honours

This morning at 7.30am Bob Oatley’s line honours chaser Wild Oats XI was sailing off Cabbage Tree Island with an estimated time of arrival at the finish line of the Audi Sydney Offshore Newcastle Yacht Race of 10.00am - Stephen Ainsworth’s race record of 15 hrs 57 mins 53 secs, set with Loki last year, safe for this year. |

Wild Oats XI leads off Belmont Beach

If you happened to be standing on Belmont Beach north of Sydney at 6.30pm this evening, chances are you would see the famous 100ft Wild Oats XI sailing by as she continues to lead the 213 nautical mile Audi Sydney Offshore Newcastle Yacht Race which started at midday on Sydney Harbour. |

Wild Oats XI leads the fleet to Newcastle

A fleet of 25 crossed the start of the Audi Sydney Offshore Newcastle Yacht Race today at midday and it was no surprise to see Bob Oatley’s 100ft Wild Oats XI, with Mark Richards at the helm, lead the fleet out of Sydney Harbour in an 8 knot north-north-easterly breeze, the variable pressure, keeping all competitors on their toes. |
